Location: Martinsburg Computing Center WV (Remote)
Duration: Long-term (Part-Time)

- May require on-call / after-hours support (24x7 operations support)
About the Role: This role serves as the senior technical authority for the AIMS system running on the UNISYS Eldorado Mainframe. Youll lead architecture system design and engineering oversight while acting as a Subject Matter Expert across AIMS and IRS systems.
Scope of the Project: The focus is on architecture leadership system integration and operational support for AIMS including modernization reporting analytics and ensuring alignment with IRS enterprise architecture standards.
Daily Duties / Responsibilities: - Lead system architecture design and engineering oversight
- Analyze requirements and develop software/system specifications
- Perform logical and physical design reviews (SDD RTM documentation)
- Support system integration with IRS enterprise architecture
- Develop tools for reporting analytics modeling and risk analysis
- Conduct technical reviews documentation and stakeholder presentations
- Support development testing and integration of system components
- Participate in operations support incident response and root cause analysis
- Provide 24x7 system support and service restoration participation
- Lead knowledge transfer and documentation efforts
Required Skills (Ranked): - Deep expertise in AIMS system architecture and IRS environments
- Strong experience with UNISYS mainframe systems
- Expertise in AIMS Database Architecture IDRS Command Codes and reporting systems
- Experience with batch processing conversion programs and system interfaces
- Strong experience in system design architecture validation and integration
Technical Skills: - UNISYS COBOL TSO (IPF/CTS) ECL TIP
- DMS CMPlus FILECRACKER
- Infoconnect DocIT MS Office
- AIMS Openings Conversion Programs Batch Reports Masterfile Interfaces
Preferred Knowledge: - IRS ELC lifecycle standards (Agile Waterfall SDLC)
- Experience with EVM/EVMS CPR reporting CWBS standards
- Experience with modeling simulation and system analysis tools
Required Education: - Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Additional Skills: - Strong leadership and system architecture capability
- Ability to work in highly regulated federal environments
- Strong documentation and knowledge transfer skills
- Ability to support both development and operations (O&M)
This is not a general architect role youre expected to be a deep SME in AIMS IRS mainframe systems. If someone doesnt already understand this ecosystem they wont ramp up in time.
