The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
Position Title: Protestant Religious Education Coordinator
- 1.Minimum Standards of Education Qualification Experience: Coordinator shall:
- Be well versed in the essential teachings and religious practices of historic Christianity.
- Be able to work within a Christian interdenominational and religiously pluralistic environment.
- Have an active membership/attendance at a Protestant church/chapel and furnish a letter of endorsement from their current pastor/chaplain.
- Possess at least three (3) years experience in religious education and program management to include:
- Verifiable working experience in a local church;
- Recruiting volunteers and planning events; and
- Formulating and leading Bible studies as a small group leader or teacher.
- Furnish a resume and portfolio including academic and work related experience.
- Furnish evidence of skill in the use of computers and associated software via previous experiences work history or volunteer history.
- Possess at least two (2) years experience in creating/maintaining social media platforms.
- Be proficient in and able to effectively use Microsoft Office products (Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel).
- The ability to effectively accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- The ability to work with an advisory council to plan implement and evaluate community goals and objectives.
- Comply with Air Force Instructions (AFI) and local Operating Instructions (OI) that apply to this position.
- Support the overall Chapel mission by working cooperatively with leadership staff members and volunteers.
- Re-invigorate the active duty and their family members connectedness to the Chapel through outreach enrollment recruitment training coordination and promotion of programs.
- Oversee/coordinate all Protestant community and RE events/programs in cooperation and consultation with the RE Chaplain chapel staff Protestant Advisory Council members and volunteers. Including but not limited to:
- PYOC/TeamKids
- Kid Connect
- Childrens Church
- Plan coordinate schedule and recruit volunteers (especially the active-duty and their family members) for all Protestant community life activities in cooperation with the chapel staff to include but not limited to:
- Advent/Lenten/Easter socials and events
- Annual Clean-Up Day (volunteer ecumenical effort to clean-up Chapel facilities)
- Bible Studies
- Chapel appreciation events
- Ecumenical Events
- Organizational activities (e.g. Protestant Women of the Chapel)
- Pioneer Club or similar childrens programs
- Vacation Bible School
- Recurring Community fellowships
- Seasonal celebrations (e.g. harvest celebration at end of October)
- Service/mission projects
- Ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check as directed by DODI 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks on Individuals in Child Care Services and local OIs.
- Arrange registration for respective events/programs keep a record of enrollment and attendance and maintain a current roster of the volunteer teachers and leaders.
- Attend weekly monthly and as-required meetings in order to coordinate respective events and submit a weekly activity report on existing and upcoming activities at Chapel staff and Protestant Advisory Council meetings. Notify RE Chaplain and/or Contract Monitor of anticipated delays and absences at least seven (7) days prior. If absent coordinator will find a substitute to support these requirements who meets the personnel qualifications per Paragraph 11.
- Create weekly bulletins and other graphic media for Protestant programs special programs such as funerals/memorials and seasonal events throughout the year.
- Attend each worship service at least once a month to oversee lay-led programs develop points of contact within each service and promote chapel programs and recruit volunteers.
- Maintain approved postings on the Protestant portion of the chapel web page and social networking accounts. Coordinate updates with chaplain staff for approval prior to posting.
- Assist the RE Chaplain in producing and distributing an annual calendar of all Protestant community events and ministries.
- Present a neat appearance and dress appropriately for religious services in accordance with local Chapel Operating Instructions.
- 3.Pluralistic Environment: The environment in which this contract is implemented is a religiously pluralistic and sensitive arena of numerous faith group and denominational traditions. The Coordinator accomplishes the terms of the contract in compliance with the mission requirements and standards set forth and defined by the Department of the Air Force and the Air Force Chaplain Corps. Activities and behavior to the contrary are viewed as grounds for contract termination.
- A criminal history background check must be initiated and completed for all Coordinators Coordinator substitutes and program volunteers working with children under 18 years of age.
- If awarded the contract the Coordinator shall immediately submit a background check application to the Contract Monitor or designee in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks.
- Coordinator shall ensure that all program volunteers and Coordinator substitutes working with children under 18 years of age submit a background check application to the Contract Monitor or designee in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks.
- While awaiting the background check results all program volunteers or Coordinator substitutes working with children less than 18 years of age must remain within line of site of another Coordinator staff member or volunteer who has an approved background check on file.
- Minimum of 18 maximum of 28 hours per week.
- Maintain a presence during the Saturday and Sunday worship service(s) and RE classes.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of classes.
- Coordinate weekday office hours with the RE Chaplain and Contract Monitor who will along with Coordinator determine core working hours.
- Coordinator will be notified in advance of changes with service times and building locations to arrange aforementioned services. Coordinator must be present at a predetermined time coordinated with the RE Chaplain prior to the start of events. Rate of payment for described services will be monthly.
