Position Summary: The Sheet Metal Apprentice participates in a structured apprenticeshipprogram focused on sheet metal fabrication HVAC support and mechanical systemsmaintenance. This position works under the direction of licensed Journeypersons and theForeperson while progressing toward State of Oklahoma Mechanical Journeyperson licensure
with a sheet metal apprentice is responsible for learning all procedural matters related to mechanical codeslocal and federal regulations sheet metal layout and fabrication ventilation systems and safetyrequirements. The apprentice must demonstrate continued improvement in skill and knowledgeto advance. During each of the first three years of employment the apprentice must pass bothwritten and practical application examinations to have their contract renewed. At the end ofthree years the apprentice must pass the State Mechanical Journeyperson examination toobtain licensure. Failure to pass any required examination will result in contract non-renewal.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of a vocational or technical program in sheet metal HVAC or related fieldpreferred

Experience:
No minimum experience required; this is an entry-level training position
Knowledge of or experience with roofing metal roofs gutters ventilation or HVACsystems preferred
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Oklahoma drivers license with no restrictions that would preclude driving on thejob required
Must obtain and maintain a current and valid State of Oklahoma Mechanical Apprenticecard

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of sheet metal fabrication layout and installationtechniques
Ability to read and understand blueprints and mechanical drawings
Willingness to learn mechanical codes city codes and applicable safety requirements
Ability to safely work with sharp metals fabricated metals and large pieces of sheetmetal
Ability to see color accurately for material identification and quality purposes
Knowledge of or willingness to learn ventilation systems exhaust fans and HVACcomponents
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to plan and coordinate work schedules to complete assignments with limitedsupervision
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors licensed tradespeople and schoolstaff
Proficiency with or willingness to learn CMMS software Microsoft Office and GoogleWorkspace
