Description
This contract position offers an on-site working mode providing a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of patients through advanced surgical care.
In this role you will work closely with our surgical team to provide exceptional care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic procedures. Your expertise will be critical in assessing patient needs developing care plans and collaborating with physicians to ensure optimal outcomes. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients pre- and post-surgery
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Assist in surgical procedures and provide intraoperative support
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Educate patients and families on postoperative care and recovery
- Collaborate with surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Stay current with advancements in cardiothoracic surgery practices
Requirements
- Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Virginia
- Associate degree in Nursing or related field; Bachelors degree preferred
- Experience in cardiothoracic surgery or critical care environments
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of current best practices in cardiothoracic care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Schedule: 6:45p-7:45a
Call Requirement: 1-2 days per week
Setting: CSICU
Nightly Volume: 20 patients 1 admission
Required Skills: Arterial catheters venous lines Swan-Ganz catheters chest tube placement endoscopic radial harvest etc.
First assist on CABG valves heart transplants aortic dissections thoracotomies ECMO cannulations and MCS implantations
ECMO transplant and mechanical circulatory device experience preferred
Support Staff: 5 ICU APPs 7 OR APPs
EMR: Epic
Paid travel & expenses
Must be board-certified
