About the role
As the Senior Business Development Manager you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving the strategic growth and commercial success of the business. This position is responsible for identifying developing and securing high-value business opportunities as well as building and managing long-term strategic partnerships across key markets.
You will take ownership of key accounts and complex negotiations while also contributing to the overall sales strategy and direction of the business. A strong focus will be placed on developing sustainable revenue streams increasing market share and strengthening the positioning of the hotels within a competitive marketplace.
In addition to new business acquisition you will be responsible for maximising revenue from existing clients ensuring strong retention growth opportunities and high levels of client satisfaction. You will work closely with operational and revenue teams to ensure seamless transition from sales to delivery.
This role requires a proactive strategic and commercially astute approach with the ability to analyse market trends competitor activity and identify opportunities for business growth. You will also play a mentoring role supporting and influencing the broader sales team to achieve strong commercial outcomes.
You will represent the business externally at senior meetings industry events and networking opportunities acting as a professional ambassador for Stamford Hotels and Resorts at all times.
This is a highly visible leadership role with direct impact on the commercial success and strategic direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a proactive and strategic approach to cultivating high-value client relationships through professional personable engagement (phone face-to-face and networking)
- Lead the development and execution of sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets and market share objectives
- Identify pursue and secure new business opportunities across key market segments
- Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic and high-value accounts
- Lead complex negotiations and commercial agreements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor activity and market trends to strengthen competitive positioning
- Maximise revenue across all hotel offerings including rooms conferences food and beverage and events
- Maintain accurate and current client information within CRM and internal systems
- Act as senior point of contact for key client enquiries site inspections and strategic proposals
- Collaborate closely with the Area Director of Sales and wider sales team to achieve KPIs and business objectives
- Provide timely professional communication and build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Actively contribute to sales meetings with strategic insight innovation and solution-focused thinking
- Mentor and support junior members of the sales team to drive overall team performance
About you

- Strong experience in driving the full sales cycle from prospecting to close
- Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation capability
- Ability to position services effectively against competitors
- Excellent communication presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Experience within hospitality hotels or service-based industries (highly desirable)
- Delphi and Opera systems knowledge (desirable)
- Full and unrestricted Australian working rights
