Accounting Specialist

Position Summary:

Flexfab is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our accounting team in Hastings Michigan. The accounting specialist is responsible for working on-site supporting the accounts payable and fixed asset accounting activities. This role requires a high level of accuracy efficiency and collaboration with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Performing three-way match of vendor invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents within the ERP/accounting system

Ensuring purchase requisitions and invoices are properly coded

Coordinating and validating appropriate approval for invoice payments

Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues

Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.

Provide backup support to Accounts Payable coordinator for preparation and processing of weekly ACH wire credit card and check payments

Monitoring the shared AP mailbox and saving/indexing AP documents into electronic repository

Maintain the fixed asset subledger including additions disposals transfers and retirements

Tracking of capital project spend and completion status

Support period-end fixed asset close activities including calculating and creating journal entries for depreciation and capitalization and reconciliation of subledger to general ledger

Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries

Support property tax filings and asset reporting as required

Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies

Support with year-end physical inventory

Act as backup for hourly payroll processing including timecard review exception resolution and timely payroll completion

Other duties as assigned

Bachelors degree in accounting or finance

1-2 years of working experience with accounting software is preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Outlook

Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
