How You Will Make an Impact
Emmanuel House Hospice is a ten-bed palliative care facility located in Hamilton that offers a home-like environment for individuals who are nearing the end of their lives. Support and care are provided in a team-based approach including various interdisciplinary team members such as personal support workers nursing physicians spiritual and psychosocial support. We embrace a person-centered holistic model of care and the importance of providing individuals dignity at the end of their life.
What Youll Bring to Our Team
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
BCLS certificate required
Experience working with individuals and their families in the end of life or with a life limiting illness
Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to work with evidence-based practices related to pain and symptom management and end of life care are required
Previous palliative care experience either in hospital based palliative care hospice or other healthcare settings with knowledge of the death/dying process
Ability to work as a member of an intradisciplinary team
Enhanced Fundamentals of Palliative Care is an asset (completed or actively pursuing) an asset
Resourceful problem-solver with strong communication and interpersonal skills excellent time management and ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education
Excellent attendance record required
Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
