Summary:

Under general direction incumbent(s) oversees and implements the budgeting process so that it systematically and continuously supports the desired outcomes of the goals and objectives of the district. Supervises staff ensures compliance and trains schools and departments on budget practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with department administrators to forecast plan and monitor budgets throughout the year.
  • Reviews and monitors weekly program budget expenditures. Works with USFR budget codes to ensure that funds are properly allocated.
  • Ensures that all campus and district budgeting policies and procedures are in compliance with federal and state mandates.
  • Ensures all spending complies with federal state and school board mandates.
  • Research budgetary concerns collaborate with all schools and departments to make necessary adjustments and troubleshoot solutions.
  • Reviews expenditures prepares reports and invoices and ensures compliance with grant and district guidelines.
  • Prepares initial budget uploads and completes journal entries to move funds to appropriate accounts.
  • Manages SERP Pro to track allocations and provide accurate timely budget information.
  • Oversees the budget functions of the district developing and implementing procedures to assure efficient and effective use of district resources.
  • Assists in the development of the fiscal budget which ensures an equitable education for students of the district.
  • Monitors budget amendment requests to ensure compliance with board policy local and state regulation and obtaining the appropriate board approval when necessary.
  • Provides assistance and training to principals directors and personnel to ensure that budgeting policies and procedures are implemented in a consistent manner throughout the district.
  • Helps complete the yearly budgets for grant renewals and new grant applications.
  • Collaborates with grants management through the Department of Education.
  • Organizes plans and completes budgets for special grant projects.
  • Communicates effectively with parents community members and the board.
  • Oversees all compliance with the MIPS/Medicad procedures
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required addition verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired
  • Two years of finance accounting or budgetary related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Bachelors degree in finance accounting or related field
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Two years of budget writing or budget management experience

  • Demonstrating grant writing techniques
  • Generating the support needed to provide the best extracurricular programs
  • Using computer software related programs
  • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff students etc. to exchange information
