Job Summary

JOB GOAL:

The Assistant Principal/Athletic Director serves a dual role in supporting the academic success student discipline and overall school climate while overseeing and managing the schools athletic programs. This position requires a collaborative leader who promotes excellence in both academics and athletics ensures compliance with district and state regulations and fosters a positive environment for students staff and the community.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Eleven (11.5) months (230 days) contract Range 123 ($63304 - $109991) plus benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree or higher with eligibility for Arkansas certification as an principal/assistant principal required.
  2. Must satisfy Awareness of the Science of Reading requirement.
  3. Must have at least three (3) years of successful experience as a teacher and/or administrator in an urban/suburban school district.
  4. Experience in coaching or athletic program management is strongly preferred.
  5. Excellent writing skills as well as experience and expertise in strategies to infuse technology across the curriculum.
  6. Knowledge of the principles and practices of school administration school law student discipline procedures and athletic compliance standards.
  7. Strong understanding of Arkansas Activities Association rules and compliance requirements.
  8. Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to coordinate campus support operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Assistant Principal Duties

  • Assist the Principal in the daily administration and operation of the school.
  • Support the implementation of instructional programs to improve student achievement.
  • Monitor student attendance behavior and discipline in accordance with district policies.
  • Conduct teacher observations and assist with staff evaluations.
  • Facilitate communication among staff students and families.
  • Help coordinate school safety procedures and crisis management plans.
  • Support professional development and staff growth initiatives.

Athletic Director Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the schools athletic programs including scheduling staffing and budgeting.
  • Ensure compliance with district state and governing athletic association rules and regulations.
  • Work with the principal to hire supervise and evaluate coaches and athletic staff.
  • Promote sportsmanship academic accountability and student-athlete well-being.
  • Coordinate transportation facilities usage and game-day operations.
  • Manage athletic equipment uniforms and inventory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders and booster organizations.
  • School-based setting with extended hours including evenings and weekends for athletic events.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
