Position Summary: As a PPI Business System Specialist II at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Millersburg PA you will support continuous improvement initiatives and develop a culture of operational excellence. Working closely with cross-functional teams you will manage process improvement projects that enhance efficiency reduce waste and improve customer experience. You will facilitate Kaizen events value stream mapping and other lean methodologies while providing training and support to develop continuous improvement capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- System Improvement & Execution: Determine and implement improvements to the PPI (Practical Process Improvement) Business System to ensure flawless execution and drive operational excellence. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with PPI standards.
- Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and implement process improvement projects from conception through implementation. Facilitate Kaizen events value stream mapping (VSM) and other lean methodologies.
- Opportunity Identification & Analysis: Utilize strong data analysis and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities conduct root cause analysis and implement data-driven solutions to achieve measurable operational improvements and cost savings.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide training coaching and mentorship to employees on continuous improvement methods and PPI tools (such as 5S GEMBA visual management standard work and process mapping).
- Benchmarking: Participate in benchmarking activities to identify effective strategies and integrate them into the PPI Business System.
- Culture & Change Management: Act as a change agent fostering a culture of continuous improvement and positive change across the organization.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Advanced Degree (no prior experience required) OR Bachelors Degree plus 1-2 years of proven experience successfully implementing process improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma Kaizen).
- Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering Business Science Operations Management or a related field.
- Preferred Certifications: Green Belt or Black Belt certification. PPI Business System certification/training is highly preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of lean tools including Value Stream Mapping (VSM) 5S Visual Management Standard Work GEMBA and root cause analysis. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality systems is preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite especially Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations.
- Communication & Collaboration: Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities effectively.
