In-School Suspension Coordinator
Job Description
Position: In-School Suspension Coordinator
Reports To: Building Principal and Assistant Principal
Grade: 56
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Nature of Work
Supervise and monitor students assigned to the In-School Suspension Program.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Applicant should have knowledge of school and classroom rules procedures and practices.
- Applicant must have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules methods andtechniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
- Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Applicant must have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolutiontechniques is strongly encouraged.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides supervision for students who are assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
- Takes daily attendance.
- Reviews in-school suspension policies procedures and student expectations with students daily.
- Works with students and or other staff members during student reflection period on issues such asbehavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student beingassigned to ISS.
- Monitors all ISS assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students monitor testscomputer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
- Emails teachers for student work requests.
- Facilitates and arranges delivery of student lunches when necessary.
- Refers behavior problems to Principal or Assistant Principal.
Education and Experience
- 48 semester hours of college credit.
- Experience in working with high school age children.
- Must be able to handle and react to potential volatile situations and take appropriate action.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.
