Position Summary
Sony Pictures is seeking a Sales Manager to report to the Vice President of the Western Domestic Theatrical Distribution. This role is responsible for maximizing box office results through strategic film placement exhibitor negotiations and data-driven execution.
The Sales Manager will manage multiple circuits across the Division build strong relationships with exhibition partners and execute booking strategies that ensure optimal market coverage and sustained performance for all releases.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Distribution Execution
Secure and optimize playdates across assigned markets to maximize film exposure and revenue
Negotiate film terms screen placement and holdovers with exhibition partners
Maintain proactive communication with exhibitors to adjust strategies and optimize box office performance
Influence release positioning and competitive strategy within assigned markets
Performance & Analytics
Leverage box office data trends and competitive analysis to inform booking decisions and market strategy
Track performance metrics including grosses playdates and holdovers
Compile exhibitor feedback and market insights to support distribution strategy
Ensure accurate booking scheduling and system updates
Partner with internal teams including marketing finance and distribution
Support reporting forecasting and territory planning
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Technically agile with the ability to quickly master tools including DEX and Dicer
Qualifications:
3 years of experience in theatrical distribution film sales or related field
Proven ability to negotiate and influence business outcomes
Strong understanding of the theatrical marketplace and release dynamics
Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in Comscore Excel Word Outlook and related tools
