Arizonas first and only autism-focused charter school is expanding and seeking Teacher candidates to implement dance instruction in a classroom with support from a Certified Special Education Teacher. Under the supervision and direction of the SPED Program Manager and the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Manager the Instructional Lead Teacher will teach and implement Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) adopted curriculum and students IEP goals within the AZACS structured classroom model.
Candidates must be experienced with classroom teaching ABA teaching strategies and have significant experience conducting these activities within school settings. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to be trained coached and be able to motivate instructional staff in the classroom. The Instructional Lead Teacher will work hand-in-hand with the SPED Program Manager and the ABA Manager implementing a best-practice education model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and related disorders. This is an ideal position for a teacher who specializes in dance and who is passionate skilled and organized to provide daily student engagement.
Duties:
- Work with classroom teams that include a Lead Teacher and a Behavior Specialist with the support and oversight of two Program Managers
- Ensure that classroom support staff are implementing instructional strategies and lessons as set forth by Program Managers
- Create a safe and effective learning environment
- Weekly lesson planning for instruction of state standardswith support staff and SPED Program Manager
- Provide dailyfeedback to support staff
- Participate in regular observations and in-the-moment coaching from the SPED Program Manager and the ABA Manager and implement action steps following coaching sessions
- Collect and report data with high fidelity and analyze data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
- Regular parent communication following AZACS guidelines
- Modification of materials to meet student needs and IEP requirements
- Maintain substitute plans in case of the Instructional Leads absence
- Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
- Contribute to IEPs as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned by the administration
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge and/or experience in a Dance Program/Degree preferred
- At least 3 years of experience working with students withmoderate to severedisabilities
- Completion of or currently enrolled in a program for Education preferred
- Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
- Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
- Ability to communicate with parents co-workers and professional contacts courteously and professionally and follow AZACS guidelines
- Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Experience in structured teaching center-based model preferred
- Bachelors degree preferred
Required:
- Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Bachelors Degree or higher
- Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Set of lessons and instructional activities for the classroom support staff. Coaches monitors and mentors classroom support staff working with students with disabilities.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping crouching reaching standing walking fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
