Shift Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (8-hour shift with 30-minute unpaid lunch); schedule may be adjusted based on JSU needs
How Many Shifts Needed Per Month: 20 shifts/month (40 hours/week 5 days/week)
License: Current valid unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state D.C. Puerto Rico or U.S. Territory; must also be licensed to perform general radiographic procedures in the State of New Mexico
Certifications:

Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or equivalent

ACLS
Education: Degree or diploma from an accredited school of Radiology Technology
Experience Needed: Minimum 2 years of experience with basic X-ray or trauma work
Special Skills Needed:

Digital radiography and bone density scanning

Patient positioning for a wide range of radiographic examinations

Radiation protection standards and techniques
-
Knowledge of anatomy physiology and basic physics as applied to radiography

Pediatric radiography
-
Phlebotomy (venipuncture and capillary specimen collection)

RPMS (Resource and Patient Management System) data entry and management
-
Mathematical verbal and computer skills
-
Cultural competency with Native American patient populations

Strong customer relations and communication skills (oral and written)
Responsibilities:
-
Perform digital radiological examinations and bone density scans per physician request
-
Position patients correctly; use immobilization and shielding devices as needed
-
Determine and set correct technical exposure factors (kVp mAs time distance)
-
Ensure radiographs are reviewed and interpreted by a certified radiologist; deliver reports to providers in a timely manner
-
Protect patients and staff from radiation using proper exposure techniques filters screens and beam restriction devices

Identify report and coordinate repair of malfunctioning equipment

Perform clerical duties: record exposures in RPMS compile daily reports label films and provide disk copies as needed

Order and maintain radiology supplies

Assist with phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary blood specimen collection

Input test requests into the RPMS computer system

Initiate and complete specimen acquisition

Answer phones fax and process orders
-
Assist with CPR/first aid as needed within the department

Train non-radiology technicians in performing X-rays

Review and implement new developments in the radiology field

Maintain compliance with HIPAA Privacy Act IHS Standards of Conduct and all JSU policies

Complete all required mandatory training (see Misc below)
