Fitter Turner Tool Engineer

Job Summary
Our Lower Hutt manufacturing site is looking for an experienced Fitter Turner / Tool Engineer who enjoys handson problem solving precision work and making a real difference to production reliability and quality.
Reporting to the Technical Manager youll play a critical role in keeping our thermoforming operations running smoothly. Youll work closely with Production Engineering Maintenance and Quality teams to minimise downtime improve performance and deliver consistent highquality product.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Manufacture modify repair and maintain thermoforming tools moulds trim sets jigs and fixtures to support safe efficient production.
- Set up and change over thermoforming machines optimising settings to meet quality output and efficiency targets.
- Diagnose and resolve tooling and equipment faults supporting breakdown response and reducing unplanned downtime.
- Perform tooling trials firstoff and lastoff checks and maintain accurate technical and quality documentation.
- Deliver preventative maintenance and reliability improvements in line with SOPs and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate closely with Production Engineering Maintenance and Quality teams to meet operational priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance changeover times and waste reduction.
- Maintain high standards of health safety quality and housekeeping in line with WHSE and site requirements.

Your skills and experience:
- A trade qualification as a Fitter Turner or Toolmaker (NZQF Level 4 or equivalent; ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
OR - At least 3 years relevant experience in fitting turning or toolmaking in a manufacturing environment
- Strong faultfinding skills and the ability to work through issues methodically
- Confidence reading engineering drawings and using precision measuring equipment
- A teamfocused mindset and pride in highquality workmanship

- This is a permanent full-time role.
- Days of work required: Monday to Friday: 40 hours per week.
- Hourly rate between $32.00 to $42.00 per hour (depending on experience).
