Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Civil Designer to join our Wellington water team. The primary purpose of this position is to deliver technically excellent designs for water infrastructure engineering projects. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate seeking their next career move within a growing team and organisation.
This opportunity can also be based in our Christchurch office.
You will be responsible for
- Design of multi-disciplinary complex civil projects ensuring design drawings for engineering project work comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices
- Preparation of preliminary and detailed designs for engineering projects in line with parameters set out in project scope of works
- Preparation of construction documentation and specifications for design works
- Preparing schedules and allocating resources to enable design drawings for engineering projects to be completed on time and within budget
- Ensuring compliance with specifications to New Zealand design standards and Codes to enhance quality design
- Promoting a culture of technical excellence through mentoring and training less experienced designers
- Supporting and approving associated technical work directly related to the disciplines
Qualifications :
Ideally you will have 6 years of experience in civil design within a professional services or consultancy environment focusing on water infrastructure addition you will also have:
- Associate Degree or Diploma of Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification) or significant experience as a senior civil designer
- A thorough understanding of civil design principles pertaining to linear designs land development storm water pump stations flood modelling civil infrastructure and roads.
- Design of multi-disciplinary projects using Civil3D (mandatory) and 12D (highly desired).
- Familiarity with NZ design and drawing standards
- Familiarity with Australian design and drawing standards desired.
- Willingness to coach junior designers with advice on solutions and develop fit-for-purpose solutions to engineering problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
