Our Environmental Services shop is looking for a Lead Hand 310T Mechanic to inspect diagnose repair and service mechanical electrical and electronic systems and components of vehicles while providing guidance and technical support to other technicians. This role offers the opportunity to work in a modern shop environment that services both diesel and Natural Gaspowered (CNG) Class 8 vehicles making it a great fit for a mechanic interested in expanding their skills and taking on new technical challenges within alternative fuel technology.
This position includes a Lead Hand and Evening Shift Premium.
Job Location: 970 Moodie Drive
Shift: 2PM to 12AM
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a resource to the garage staff in solving problems associated with repairs
Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturers performance specifications
Perform scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes lubrications and tune ups
Inspect and test mechanical units such as engines transmissions axles and brake systems to locate faults and malfunctions
Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair
Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance
Complete reports to record problems and work performed
Adjust repair or replace parts and components of systems including chassis frame cab body engine and drive train air brakes steering and fuel hydraulic electrical and electronic systems
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of secondary school is usually required
Hold a 310T Heavy Truck/Coach License or 3rdyear apprentice to be considered
Leadership skills with ability to coach and mentor others
Proven mechanical abilities in gas and diesel diagnosis and repair
Experience with routine/preventative maintenance operations
COMPENSATION INFORMATION:
The expected hourly rate range for this position is $28-45/hr. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
