Key purpose of the role:

Provide senior leadership and judgement for technology and cyber risk across ASX and accountable Line 1 risk leadership for the ASX Technology division ensuring clear risk positions disciplined escalation and high-quality risk profile governance and reporting in support of internal and external (including regulatory) requirements.

Your Team

The Technology Risk Business Management & Strategy function supports the ASX Technology division across technology risk governance planning and operatingrhythm activities. The function enables Technology leaders to manage risk meet regulatory and assurance expectations and maintain effective governance and performance disciplines.

Your responsibilities

  • Own and lead Line 1 risk and compliance advisory for the ASX Technology division setting the risk stance and priorities in ambiguous and time-critical contexts and ensuring advice is clear proportionate pragmatic and decision-enabling.
  • Be the accountable senior owner for the integrity of the divisional risk position across all risk classes and for technology and cyber risk positions enterprise-wide including identification and escalation of material movements concentrations and systemic themes.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for high-impact divisional and enterprise technology/cyber risk matters (e.g. incidents material control deficiencies and regulatory or assurance issues) driving clear treatment decisions and disciplined follow-through.
  • Drive consistent high-quality risk governance and decision-making forums shaping the agenda to focus on substance impact trade-offs and actions.
  • Lead senior Line 1 engagement for regulatory and assurance activities impacting the division (such as audits attestations regulator requests) ensuring positions are coherent defensible and aligned across stakeholders.
  • Lead coach and support a team of risk practitioners in an environment with competing priorities and elevated risk exposure building autonomy reducing single-point dependencies and progressively uplifting risk maturity through practical simplification and standardisation.
  • Partner effectively across the three lines of defence and with business risk counterparts to align expectations resolve issues quickly and maintain a coherent risk position.

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

  • Significant experience in technology risk and/or compliance roles (Line 1 Line 2 or Line 3) with the credibility and judgment to operate autonomously in a senior Line 1 leadership capacity.
  • Strong technology and cyber risk expertise with sufficient technical depth to engage credibly with SMEs such as engineers and cyber practitioners and to form independent views grounded in operational reality.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound risk judgement under pressure including materiality assessment escalation risk treatment advice and residual risk positioning.
  • Proven capability to operate independently and decisively structuring ambiguous problem spaces prioritising competing demands and driving outcomes in complex environments.
  • Strong capability to lead through influence including facilitating senior risk discussions challenging constructively and driving accountability through governance and decision-making mechanisms
  • People leadership capability demonstrated through direct indirect or matrix leadership including coaching and developing experienced practitioners and building confidence judgment and autonomy in others.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating in regulated critical or high-reliability environments where technology and cyber risk scrutiny is elevated.
  • Working knowledge of ITGCs and technology assurance concepts sufficient to interpret outcomes and integrate them into broader risk judgements.
  • Experience advising on or responding to technology incidents systemic issues or complex risk themes translating technical root causes into clear decision-relevant risk insights.
  • Risk-related certification (CISA CISSP etc.) or equivalent professional standing.
  • Familiarity with recognised technology and risk frameworks such as NIST ITIL COSO.
  • Exposure to emerging technology risk areas such as AI cloud at scale continuous deployment.
