Consultant / Senior Consultant Tax Controversy
The opportunity
As a Consultant or Senior Consultant in our Tax Controversy Practice you will advise clients on a broad range of tax matters with a focus on the technical and tactical management of revenue authority engagement and dispute prevention and resolution. You will also have the chance to shape and drive your career through our comprehensive development programs to help you be the best version of yourself both inside and outside of work. To the right candidate this position offers excellent opportunities for teaming leadership and career advancement.
This is a hybrid position based in Naarm Melbourne or Warrang - Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your key responsibilities
- Advise a diverse range of clients including ASX listed multinational organisations and high-net-worth individuals on their interactions with the ATO and state revenue authorities.
- Research a range a broad range of tax technical and tax administration matters.
- Advise clients in relation to responding to requests for information in the context of ATO reviews and audits.
- Get involved in dispute resolution processes both formal litigation and alternative dispose resolution
- Draft documents and correspondence including objections private binding ruling requests responses to position papers requests for amended assessments and submissions in relation to penalties and interest.
Skills and attributes for success
- Law degree and admission to practice law in Australia
- Strong tax technical and legal research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management capabilities
- Attention to detail
- Ability to balance competing priorities

- Experience in tax advisory or tax controversy in a Big 4 firm law firm or similar environment
- Problem solving abilities and a focus on solutions
- Willingness to learn and become involved in a range of different types of work
