Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Learning & Engagement Project Manager to join our Learning & Engagement (L&E) team on a fixed-term contract fromJuly 2026 - September 2027. This is a part-time role(3 days per week). Preferred working days are Mondays Tuesdays &Thursdays.

Reporting to the Head of Learning & Engagement the post-holder will be responsible for the creative development and management of a range of projects across the L&E programme. The programme supports the creation of new work and supports participants to discover opera and develop their talent. The portfolio managed by the post-holder will change over time according to the needs of the organisation and the scope of the projects being delivered. The post-holder will also be closely involved in the day-to-day running of the departments programme of work and its busy office (real or virtual).

The L&E Project Manager will coordinate and liaise closely with multiple departments across the organisation most notably Communications Development and Technical. Other key contacts include members of Glyndebourne performing companies and freelance artists learning providers partner organisations community groups members of the general public and some funding bodies.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Project Portfolio

The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a range of projects ensuring their effective organisation. This will include:

  • Working with the Head of Learning & Engagement the L&E Business and Operations Manager and other members of the L&E team to develop existing projects and create new projects which make imaginative use of the organisations resources and are in line with Glyndebournes artistic and strategic objectives.
  • Identifying appropriate artistic teams for projects and supervising their work.
  • Identifying and recruiting participant groups.
  • Scheduling projects and organising the relevant staffing and resources.
  • Collaborating with Glyndebourne Technical departments to ensure effective planning of technical support for L&E projects.
  • Managingworking in collaboration with and maintaining relationships with partnership organisations.
  • Attending project activity within the portfolio.

Business Operations

  • Delivering a consistent approach to planning and administrative processes as defined by the L&E Business and Operations Manager.
  • Creating and delivering partnership agreements based on Glyndebourne templates.
  • Contributing to a consistent and effective approach to the use of Google suite for L&E working documents.
  • Ensuring the L&E content of the Glyndebourne website & intranet for the project portfolio is current ensuring teams are supplied with up-to-date and relevant information.
  • Ensuring all project records are archived in accordance with the archiving policy both paper and digital.

Communications

  • Ensuring the effective promotion and communication of project activity through external and internal communication channels.
  • Producing and proofing communications for internal and external audiences where appropriate.
  • Promoting the work of Glyndebourne to artists peer organisations funders and opinion formers.
  • Representing Glyndebourne in respect of its L&E programmes and initiatives.

Financial

  • Drawing up and managing project budgets as directed ensuring strict financial control.
  • Negotiating fees and contracting artists and other personnel involved in projects.
  • Drawing up contracts between Glyndebourne and partner organisations.
  • Ensuring that all projects within the portfolio align with the companys Safeguarding Equal Opportunities and Data Protection policies.

Evaluation and Data Monitoring

  • Ensuring effective monitoring evaluation and documentation of projects including regular analysis of participation data.
  • Day-to-day use of the L&E database (Tessitura) ensuring that data is regularly and accurately inputted.
  • Proactive and regular analysis of data and other evaluative measures of success for the purposes of external and internal reporting.

Compliance

  • Ensuring a safe inclusive and welcoming environment by adhering to all compliance requirements including Health & Safety (including undertaking risk assessments where required) Safeguarding Equality & Diversity and GDPR.

Wider team contribution

The post-holder will play an active role in other aspects of the departments work and undertake other duties as required including:

  • Collaborating in the general administration and management of the department in all aspects of its work and in the efficient running of the office.
  • Contributing to the strategic and artistic development of the programme.
  • Collaborating on or assisting with the management of L&E projects beyond the primary portfolio as directed.
  • Project management of new creative projects as they evolve.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven experience of producing high quality arts or participatory arts projects.
  • Experience of managing project teams.
  • Understanding of arts education work across music theatre and opera and a commitment to enhancing its accessibility to a wide range of groups.
  • The ability to contribute new ideas to creative processes.
  • Demonstrably excellent project management administrative and organisational skills.
  • Experience of developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience of data management.
  • Knowledge of Further Education Higher Education and training programmes in connection to the performing arts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an enthusiasm for communicating with a range of different groups.
  • Good understanding of current issues within the context of arts education.
  • Ability to present ideas and projects in formal and informal situations.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to deal with a diverse workload work under pressure and manage multiple priorities both short and long-term.
  • Availability to work during evenings and at weekends as required.
  • Digitally literate with good knowledge of social media and digital learning.

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of Tessitura.
  • Full driving licence and own car.

Location

Glyndebourne is situated in Lewes East Sussex. We believe that the Glyndebourne site and what we do here is central to our culture. However we take a flexible approach to including an element of working from home. More details can be discussed at the interview.

Salary Hours and Benefits

This is a 14 month fixed-termcontract fromJuly 2026 - September 2027. The role is part-time(3 days per week). Preferred working days are Mondays Tuesdays &Thursdays 9:30 - 17:30. You will be expected to work some evenings and weekends to meet the demands of the role.

We can offer a salary of up to 35000 per annum pro are reviewed annually on 1st January.

We offer 33 days (6.6 weeks) holiday inclusive of bank holidays per annum pro rata.
