Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Marine Trade Electrician to join our team in Louisiana. This position is responsible for installing maintaining and repairing electrical systems on boats ships and other marine vessels. The Marine Electrician will work with navigation systems lighting control panels batteries and communication equipment while ensuring all electrical work meets marine safety standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Avionix systems as well as AC/DC electrical systems and be familiar with marine electronic systems such as communication and navigation equipment. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills the ability to read electrical schematics and the capability to work safely in shipyards marinas and onboard vessels including confined or wet environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install maintain and repair electrical systems on marine vessels.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Install and wire navigation systems communication equipment lighting batteries and control panels.
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
Work with AC/DC electrical systems and marine electronic components.
Ensure all installations and repairs meet marine electrical safety standards.
Follow safety procedures when working in confined spaces wet environments or onboard vessels.
Work collaboratively with marine technicians and maintenance teams.
Must Have
Experience working as a Marine Electrician or Marine Electrical Technician.
Experience with Avionix systems.
Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience installing or repairing marine navigation and communication systems.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues using testing and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to work in shipyards marinas or onboard vessels including confined or wet environments.
Preferred
ABYC (American Boat & Yacht Council) Certification.
Previous experience working in shipyards or marine repair facilities.
Experience with marine control systems and instrumentation.
Knowledge of marine electrical safety standards and regulations.
Ability to work effectively as part of a marine maintenance team.
Work Environment
Shipyards marinas and marine repair facilities.
Work may be performed outdoors onboard vessels or in confined spaces.
Exposure to water electrical equipment and marine environments.
