Semmes Murphey Clinic is expanding our outpatient rehabilitation services team!
To continue carrying out our mission of providing the best care for patients suffering from neurological illness we are adding an Occupational Therapist to our this role you will evaluate and treat patients with neurological diagnoses including post-stroke conditions and upper extremity impairments. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in neurological rehabilitation who have an interest in developing an occupational therapy program within a top multispecialty neurosurgery opportunity will allow you to build something new collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and meet the needs of our diverse patient population.
This full-time position will play a key part in developing and expanding occupational therapy services at our main Memphis campus as well as our rehabilitation teams in Southaven and Arlington.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on improving functional independence motor control and quality of life
- Provide hands-on treatment emphasizing upper extremity rehabilitation neuromuscular re-education coordination and ADL retraining
- Utilize evidence-based interventions for neuro recovery (e.g. task-specific training constraint-induced movement therapy principles neuromuscular facilitation techniques)
- Collaborate closely with physical therapists physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs safety and functional strategies
Minimum:
- Completion of Occupational Therapy program from an accredited school
- Active Occupational Therapist license in the state of Tennessee
- Minimum one (1) year experience in neurological rehabilitation (outpatient preferred)
- Active BLS certification
Preferred:
- Experience in neurological populations including stroke brain injury and neurodegenerative conditions
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Familiar with outcome measures for upper extremity function (e.g. Fugl-Meyer DASH Box and Block Test)
- Knowledge of splinting/orthotic intervention for upper extremity conditions
- Strong clinical reasoning and manual skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Outlook Word) Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software
- Desire to seek new learning experiences and share knowledge with others
