Elementary School Principal

Watertown-Mayer Elementary offers a premier leadership opportunity within a warm nurturing environment located just 30 miles west of the Twin Cities. Serving approximately 450 students in grades K-4 our elementary school was recently named a Minnesota School of Excellence and is also a Playworks Blue Shirt School. Watertown-Mayer Elementary is known for high quality instruction strong student outcomes and a commitment to ensuring systems and supports are in place to address the social-emotional mental health and academic needs of all students.

As Principal you will lead a modern facility designed for the future featuring flexible learning furniture and spaces with small class sizes that ensure every student receives the individual attention they need to thrive. We are seeking a visionary leader to drive our curriculum and instruction forward supporting a highly engaged staff and parent community.

Qualifications
Applicants must qualify for or currently have a Minnesota principal license along with an excellent record of past professional performance applicable to performing all duties of the position. Successful candidates must also possess excellent communications and human relations skills in a variety of professional settings including conflict resolution with youth and adults small and large group facilitation skills and demonstrated leadership skills.

1. Provide general administration of the total school program which requires meeting the needs of all students within the building.
2. Serve as a member of the District Leadership and Administration Teams and assist in developing district goals in coordination with the District Strategic Plan.
3. Provide leadership and oversight for the implementation of approved curriculum assessments and instruction programs at the building level.
4. Lead in the recruitment selection staff development and evaluation of staff members at the building level.
5. Develop and complete an annual School Improvement Plan with the Elementary Leadership Team tied directly to the Districts goals.
6. Ensure effective implementation of after-school activities enrichment and co-curricular activities in conjunction with other District staff.
7. Communicate with parents community members and parent organizations concerning school programs and activities.
8. Develop the school budget and approve the requisitions for supplies equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the school.
9. Oversee the development of and implementation of the student discipline and student recognition programs within the school.

10. Implement state and federal regulations and School Board policies related to the health and safety of all students and employees.

Compensation is aligned with the 2026ï½2028 Principal Contract which is currently under negotiation with a starting salary of $110000. Benefits include health dental and life insurance as well as long-term disability coverage.
