About Our Opportunity

The Galaxy Program is Direction Youth Services 2SLGBTQIA Program. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are there to support the Program Coordinator in running events outings and workshops for queer and trans youth. Volunteers are seen as queer/trans role models to youth.
  • Help with the set up and take down of events and workshops at Directions
  • Support with organizing clothing donation room
  • Dedicate their time skills and efforts to assist with various community programs and activities
  • support clients while making a positive impact in the community and support the organization in its mission values and commitment to compassion

Volunteer Hours:
Events and activities vary month to month but activities typically run on:
Mondays 2-4pm or / Wednesdays 6-8 pm
*Please note: Volunteers are expected to attend at least one event per month
Location: Directions Youth Services 1138 Burrard St Vancouver BC V6Z 2A5
Education Training Experience
  • High school Diploma
  • Experience working with youth (16-24)
  • Harm Reduction Knowledge
  • *Additional Training offered for Volunteers
Role Qualifications and Skills include but are not limited to:

Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children families and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We believe in the resiliency of Vancouvers youth who are at-risk homeless and street-involved. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma mental health or substance issues. Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life substance use mental health concerns and disconnection from their communities. Directions inclusive programs of shelter and drop-in safe houses and other unique programs are committed to being a community leader in harm reduction work and fostering low-barrier spaces where all youth are welcome.
