• Interacts with co-workers visitors and staff in a manner consistent with the values of Jefferson.

• Adheres to safety policies and procedures related to lifting moving and transporting patients.

• Transports non-monitored stable patients as directed.

• Ensures IV drip rates and sites oxygen flow and any special equipment are checked by the RN prior to transport; monitors equipment during transport and reports any changes to the RN.

• Follows proper patient identification procedures prior to transport to and from service areas.

• Transports patients using designated equipment (stretcher or wheelchair) to clinical areas for treatment or diagnostic procedures and returns them to their room as appropriate.

• Observes patients for any changes in condition or appearance during transport and notifies the Registered Nurse immediately.

• Communicates with the assigned nurse regarding patient transport and return.

• Ensures stretchers are cleaned and sanitized after each use.

• Assists staff with turning lifting and transferring patients between beds treatment tables stretchers and wheelchairs.

• Maintains cleanliness and proper functioning of wheelchairs stretchers and transport equipment.

• Reports damaged or malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel and removes it from service per safety protocols.

• Assists with post-mortem transport as needed.

• Maintains a clean safe and organized work environment as directed by leadership.

• Follows all isolation and infection control policies and procedures.

• Demonstrates understanding of the transport role during internal and external disasters; participates in drills as required.

• Supports patient satisfaction initiatives through professional and compassionate service.

• Completes all required annual mandatory in-services.
