Qualifications:
- Associates degree of nursing. Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Certification: The RN shall possess and maintain a current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) / Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Experience: The RN shall have at least two (2) years of full-time RN experience in the last four (4) years in the Cath LabIR or full-time in the inpatient critical care.
Skills and Knowledge: Skill setting up operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment (IV infusion pumps cardiac monitoring devices EKG oxygen analyzers nebulizers). Cath Lab requires telemetry experience and passing BAMC Cardiac Telemetry Test annually.
*Other areas in BAMC Radiology that IR RNs will support:
- CCTA (Cardiac Computed Tomography Angiography).
- MRI Patients that have pacemakers and/or ICDs.
This requires nursing to assess patient and administer nitroglycerin sublingual and administering PO Metoprolol Ivabradine and IV Metoprolol while patient in scanner per physicians orders and protocols. Then once imaging is competed recover patient and send home. This role also requires calling patients prior to CCTA for screening.
This support requires a rep for the device to be placed in safe mode and once this has happened the patient requires a nurse ACLS/ALS certified to monitor vital signs while patient is completing their MRI. Once imaging is complete the nurse must monitor the patient until their device is back in their previous settings.
