About the Role:

Working within the Assets & Investment Directorate the Buildings Officerwill act as the first point of contact for the service area.

They willbe responsible foractioning and investigating service requests overseeing contractorworksand supporting the wider Directorate in ensuring it meets its aims andobjectivesin support of both Councils Corporate Priorities.

They will be the eyes and ears of the service on the ground ensuring that the Councils assets are being wellmaintainedand in a safe and compliant condition for both staffresidentsand tenants to use.

About the candidate:

You will bea practicaldetail focusedindividual with anunderstanding of property compliance and facilities be comfortable working across a wide range of statutory areasincluding electrical safety fire safety water hygiene asbestos gassafetyand LOLERand able to carry out inspections record findings accurately and support planned and reactive maintenance.

Youwill be confident using digital tools such as handheld devicesmaintainingcompliancedatabasesand producing clear reports that help informdecision also be proactive inidentifyingissues recommendingsolutionsand ensuring that Council assetsremainsafefunctionaland fully compliant with legislation.

Equally important isyourability to work reliably and flexibly within a busy operational environment. The role requires someone who can support contractors supervise works on site processordersand invoices and respond professionally to enquiries or complaints.

Youwill need to remain calm and capable during unplanned situations including occasionaloutofhourscallouts for emergencies or security issues. Ahandsonservice orientedmindset is essential as the role also involves practical facilities support such as room setup stock monitoring waste management and ensuring reactive cleaning needs are addressed promptly.

Overallyouwill combine technical awareness with strong organisational skills and a commitment tomaintainingsafewell managedCouncil buildings.
