Hours Per Week: 20

Schedule: 2:00pm-10:30pm can flex to split shift overlapping days or nights every other weekend rotation

SUMMARY

As a Specimen Management Tech your excellent attention to detail and communications skills are crucial to prompt and accurate specimen analysis and patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Laboratory Work. Prepare laboratory samples for testing; operate imaging system as appropriate; communicate with departments and physicians regarding laboratory testing results and sample requirements; prepare specimens and paperwork accurately for transfer and testing done in other departments
• Data Entry. Enter and label laboratory samples in an accurate and timely manner; retrieve requisitions as requested; maintain a manual filing system for outpatient/inpatient requisitions
• Computer knowledge. Maintain knowledge and competency in necessary computer systems and have a working knowledge of common operating systems in many areas of the department

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess skills and the ability to understand written instruction and receive and transmit information correctly.
• Data entry/computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical terminology and understanding of billing issues preferred.

PAY RANGE:

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience relevant qualifications specialty internal equity location and contracts.
