Job Summary

Duties And Responsibilities
Monitor and act as a steward for campus MEP infrastructure with a particular focus on reducing contractor spend and preventing leaks. Train and support staff to successfully execute maintenance projects and perform general repairs. Assist the PDC in projects by actively working with PDC Staff and construction teams helping ensure MEP code compliance for all projects. Support MEP and Fire Protection system replacements during construction or renovation to ensure the project meets JCU specifications O&M standards and community needs. Coordinate maintenance replacement and repairs of MEP systems on campus prioritizing the use of in-house staff over outside contractors. Support proactive Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance programs. Help maintain MEP equipment inventory and make recommendations on deferred maintenance and capital renewal needs for MEP Fire Protection and campus infrastructure. Maintain and repair plumbing hydronic systems and related mechanical pipe fitting infrastructure getting help from JCU staff whenever possible. Help maintain storm drains storm sewer features and work with utility companies. Oversee backflows. Serve as the main contact for generator compliance and repairs. Assist in sprinkler system compliance. Advise and support staff in emergency and planned maintenance repairs on large-scale equipment. Review HeroHQ work orders in the backlog to identify repeat equipment problems and ensure proper resource allocation. Help monitor HeroHQs planned maintenance schedules to ensure proper equipment maintenance. Work with the facilities leadership team to support campus sustainability efforts and make recommendations on water and energy reduction strategies and efficiency initiatives. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Associates degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology formal comprehensive vocational training in mechanical and electrical systems OR 20 years of experience with a strong continuing education background in lieu of a degree Minimum of 8 years relevant experience Comprehensive knowledge of commercial and residential mechanical and electrical systems Ability to analyze equipment to determine the root cause make corrective repairs and recommend improvements Specify coordinate and manage assigned subcontracted work Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Sheets and Docs products. Ability to read blueprints wiring and ladder diagrams Good filing and organizational skills Good supervisory communication and multi-tasking skills Interest in understanding and supporting John Carrolls mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning leadership and service in the region and in the world.

Preferred Qualifications
Formal comprehensive vocational training in mechanical and electrical systems 10 years relevant experience
