Job Summary
Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School (BuffSci) seeks to hire an IT Specialist in Buffalo New York who will coordinate and provide school-level technology support for our designated schools in the district. He or she will be responsible for the daily operations of our computer systems and network including technical support troubleshoot of IT issues and day-to-day technology implementation. The responsibilities of the IT Specialist will include:
- Coordinate install configure update and maintain computing devices multimedia projectors document cameras smart boards printers network system network security system intranet emails and servers;
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware software and network issues;
- Perform regular maintenance and update on systems to ensure optimal performance and security;
- Manage computer labs and Chromebook carts ensuring devices are in working order and software is up to date;
- Train large and small groups of users including students in Information Technology and related sub-topics; and
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in technology to provide recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.
The duties of the IT Specialist do NOT include any didactic classroom teaching. The IT Specialist will train school-wide users to use school computer systems and devices including software and hardware. This includes training and providing on-site technical support to teachers staff and students in the use of the following school-wide computer systems and devices: Canva and Learning Management Systems (LMS) Microsoft Windows Google Workspace Zoom Phone and Meeting System network systems multimedia projectors smart boards and printers.
The IT Specialist will coordinate install configure update and maintain school-wide computing devices multimedia projectors document cameras smart boards printers network system network security system intranet emails and servers at the building carrying out this duty the IT Specialist will maintain and administer computer devices and networks located at school computer labs to ensure devices are in working order and software is up to date. The IT Specialist will NOT manage the operations or activities of computer labs.
The position requires a bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field. A successful candidate must also have two (2) years of experience in coordinating or administrating information technology systems in a school setting which includes two (2) years of experience in the following:
- Coordinating the schools IT infrastructure and preparing IT reports for management;
- Installing and maintaining hardware software servers network systems and devices and LAN networks;
- Monitoring cybersecurity threats and making sure regular data backups and disaster recovery procedures are in place;
- Keeping documentation for IT systems and procedures and enforcing compliance with organizational policies;
- Providing trainings to staff on IT best practices and policies; and
- Software and tools: Canva and Learning Management System (LMS).
