Summary:
We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our rapidly growing Engineering team. This role is for someone who is passionate about leading engineering teams building innovative solutions being exposed to new challenges and technologies while making an impact.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering you will be joining the newly formed engineering team in Australia. You will address the top needs of Clio customers within the APAC region contributing to the success of what is already a leading global SaaS product within the Legal Tech industry.
What your team does

For Engineering Managers this means supporting and growing your people strong execution as a team and as a triad (the teams Designer Product Engineering Manager leadership group) and building solid technical solutions. Our Engineering Managers are highly technical and hands-on often coding designing and reviewing alongside their team. They coach and build their teams to be both strong technically and strong team members creating a safe and productive environment for all Clions.
A day in the life might look like:
Collaborating with your triad to understand the challenges our APAC customers face identify the most impactful opportunities and craft a roadmap for the team
Working with a newly established team of engineers to solve complex problems for Clio customers within APAC by designing solutions that optimise for performance reliability scalability and a beautiful and intuitive interface
Giving great feedback on code reviews architecture documents and more to help support team members making great technical decisions for their projects
Actively participating as a contributor to the projects either through extensive code reviews or shipping code collaborating with multiple engineering teams across the globe
Having 1:1 meetings with your direct reports to make sure they are supported in their career growth and development goals
Actively participating in hiring to grow engineering team at Clio
Teaching and learning from those around you providing constructive feedback and taking on feedback to help grow
What you bring:
At least three years of demonstrated success in people leadership in software development particularly using an Agile process and with large scale SaaS products
A strong background in hands-on software development
A diverse base of knowledge that allows you to help your team solve complex technical problems
The ability to describe successful projects youve worked on as well as a collection of lessons learned from failed projects
Demonstrated ability to motivate the best and brightest engineers and to coach develop and retain top engineering talent
You are equally energised by your own technical work as well as contributing to the career growth of your team
Strong opinions that are weakly held and you foster that same attitude in others
A belief in providing honest actionable feedback to your team and encouraging your team to reciprocate
A keen interest in improving your craft by applying effective AI tools and techniques
Serious bonus points if you have:
A philosophy on what makes for great software development teams
Experience with SaaS products at scale
Experience with some or all of the following; Claude Code Ruby on Rails TypeScript Python

*Our salary bands are designed to reflect the range of skills and experience needed for the position and to allow room for growth at Clio. For experienced individuals we typically hire at or around the midpoint of the band. The top portion of the salary band is reserved for employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. Those who are new to the role may join below the midpoint and develop their skills over time. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
