Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Brake Press Operator is to bend sheet metal according to design specifications and ensure that all finished products meet quality standards and are free of defects.
The ideal candidate is a dependable detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meeting production and quality expectations. A minimum of 2 years of CNC brake press experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate shear and/or press brake equipment for established production work
- Select appropriate punches and dies based on material type and thickness
- Load install and properly set up tooling; adjust machine parameters for optimal performance
- Safely operate a forklift to move materials
- Grind finished products in preparation for sandblasting
- Complete work within established time and quality standards
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Identify equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; make adjustments within capability and report issues to management
- Cross-train and assist in other job functions as needed
- Communicate with management regarding assignments and production or quality concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment
- Recommend and support process improvements
- Follow all required safety procedures before and during operations
Schedule:
Typical working hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with flexibility based on production needs
Work Requirements
While performing the duties of this role the employee is frequently required to:
- Lift carry push and/or pull heavy materials
- Squat kneel bend twist grasp and reach overhead and outward
- Stand and walk for extended periods (112 hours per day up to 6 days per week)
- Work in a non-temperature-controlled environment
- Operate in a fast-paced industrial setting while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including vision and hearing protection
