Job Duties

The Maternity Mortality Research Assistant collects and analyzes data using a variety of established research methods procedures statistical formulas and techniques. Verifies data for accuracy and identifies trends develops projections and prepares reports as directed or follows established procedures. May lead other support staff on projects.
Analyses are performed to address a limited variety of applications. Frequent contact with other staff as well as information sources and end users of data is required in order to accurately collect data and to meet user needs.

This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality (ERASE MM) for 38 (month) period ending June 30th 2029. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of database management; data quality assurance techniques and procedures; basic statistical formulas and techniques
Strong oral and written communication interpersonal problem solving statistical analysis and database management skills
Software skills should include MS Office (Access Excel PowerPoint Publisher and Word)
Ability to collect analyze and enter data; perform data quality checks; report and reconcile discrepancies; prepare clear and accurate documentation and reports; conduct research; communicate effectively with diverse audiences; provide technical assistance; conduct training
Must be able to travel within the state or nationally for meetings or other related events.
Knowledge of or experience in public health theory principles and/or qualitative data
methods.

Additional Considerations

Experience using large public health or criminal justice data systems.
Experience in research data abstraction or data entry is preferred.
