ACRC Academy Career Transition Fellowship for Academia

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine / School of Population Health Sciences / Usher Institute
Full Time 35 Hours per Week.
Fixed Term Contract available from 11 May 2026 to 10 May 2027.
Location - Usher Building Biquarter Edinburgh.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week) however we will consider part-time or flexible working patterns (minimum of 17.5/ week).
We will also consider requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular (weekly) on-campus working. The Usher Institute expects a minimum of 40% on campus working.
The Centre for Population Health Sciences at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for talented researchers from cohorts 1 and 2 of the ACRC Academy who plan to develop an external fellowship application.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for candidates from the ACRC Academy who have an emerging track record of innovative research and/or translation and the potential to make a contribution to furthering the ACRCs strategic goals by developing at least one fellowship application focusing on care in later life multimorbidity healthy ageing or a closely related field. Applications are welcome from ACRC Academy PhD students from across the full range of disciplines in the ACRC. We particularly welcome applicants who wish to continue to use their leadership skills in working across disciplinary boundaries to research advanced care and its associated societal challenges.

Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD from the ACRC Academy or an ACRC Academy submitted PhD thesis with a passed viva subject to minor corrections by the anticipated start date of the fellowship.
- Experience in studying/ researching advanced care and its associated societal challenges.
- Experience in studying interdisciplinary leadership in an advanced care setting.
- Demonstrated research skills in one or more disciplines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
