ABOUT INUVIALUIT REGIONAL CORPORATION (IRC)
IRC was created in 1984 to represent the Inuvialuit and their rights and benefits obtained under one of Canadas oldest comprehensive land claim agreements. With assets over $1 billion not including vast land holdings IRC is responsible for corporate investment land management and a broad range of social cultural and economic programs and services benefiting Inuvialuit. Its subsidiaries have interests in grocery manufacturing property management transportation and significant dealings in the oil and gas industry.
Since its inception IRC has experienced considerable growth and its structure and operations have become increasingly complex. Combining local government and service delivery community development investment and operating business divisions all managed by a single back office the organization has an array of complexities for the executive staff to navigate. There is an emphasis on fostering understanding healing and resilience in a region brimming with unique social challenges and immense potential for transformative change.
JOB SUMMARY
The Clean Energy Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the Inuvialuit Settlement Regions transition toward diversified reliable and sustainable energy systems. Reporting to the Environmental Policy and Regional Programs Manager this position leads to the development implementation and evaluation of the ISR Energy Action Plan while ensuring alignment with community priorities and regional goals.
The Clean Energy Coordinator serves as a trusted advisor on clean energy policy and programming providing clear practical recommendations and translating complex research into accessible information. Working closely with communities partners and government stakeholders the position supports clean energy infrastructure initiatives community-driven programming and energy literacy efforts that promote long-term sustainability and reduce reliance on diesel energy systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be/have:
- A bachelors degree in environmental science Energy-related studies or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; or
- A college diploma in a related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience.
- Experience in project planning proposal writing budgeting and reporting.
- Experience managing or supporting programs and community-based initiatives.
- Experience analyzing information and communicating findings to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- A masters degree in physical social or environmental sciences or a related field
- Knowledge of energy policy Canadian funding programs and government energy initiatives
- Knowledge of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region the Inuvialuit Final Agreement and cooperative management structures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships manage projects and work collaboratively across teams
- Cultural sensitivity sound judgment and adaptability in diverse environments
