Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team in New York NY. This role will support the dentist during examinations and treatments ensuring efficient patient care and maintaining a clean organized clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience assisting with oral surgery procedures and be committed to providing exceptional care in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the dentist during patient examinations and treatments including oral surgery procedures
Prepare and seat patients adjusting dental chairs and equipment as needed
Set up and organize dental instruments materials and equipment before procedures
Pass instruments to the dentist and provide chairside assistance during procedures
Operate suction equipment to maintain a clear dry working area in the patients mouth
Provide post-procedure care and assist patients with mouthwash and other treatments
Assist with tooth extractions and other surgical interventions
Clean sterilize and maintain dental instruments and treatment areas
Prepare and manage dental materials including mixing amalgam and other filling substances
Maintain accurate patient records including treatment notes and appointment scheduling
Assist with dental X-rays including taking and processing images (if applicable)
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant
Prior experience assisting in oral surgery required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program required
Skills & Requirements:
Strong knowledge of dental procedures and instruments
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to perform moderate physical activity including standing for extended periods bending and lifting
