Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate professional to join our youth justice service in the restorative approaches team and make a real difference through youth this role you will:

  • Demonstrate resilience flexibility and a belief in the power of rehabilitation
  • Understand and apply restorative principles
  • Work as part of a close-knit motivated and supportive team managing reparation co-ordinators in line with evidence-informed practice
  • Develop the offer of reparation placements to support children to achieve positive change though undertaking reparation activities within their local communities.
  • Undertake risk assessments
  • Have oversight of safeguarding
  • Build on existing quality assurance processes including data collection.

You will need:

  • excellent information-gathering and analytical skills
  • excellent communication and organisational skills
  • an ability to network with community organisations.

The team

TheSuffolk Youth Justice Service (SYJS)works with children and young people who are in or at risk of entering the Youth Justice System.

We also supportparents carers andvictims of youth crime operating as amulti-agency partnershiphosted bySuffolk County Council.

Our core aim is to:

  • Prevent offending by children and young people.
  • Protect the public from harm caused by youth offending.
  • Promote the safety wellbeing and future aspirations of the children we work with.

SYJS operates7 days a week includingevenings until 9pm and conductshome visitsto meet national standards and legislative requirements.

As part of the role you will be expected to:

  • Occasionally workevenings and weekends for which you will be entitled toflexi timeorTime Off in Lieu (TOIL).
