What youll do
As a Senior Software Developer your key area of responsibility will be ensuring the functionality performance scalability and reliability of system architecture for Public Works fleet management products. You will be responsible for the implementation of project tasks as well as managing day-to-day activities like writing scalable secure software and performing quality assurance through peer reviews. You will also need to provide regular status reports to key partners to ensure the project is on time and meeting expectations.
To be successful in this role you will be a proactive communicator and a self-starter who delivers consistently and owns work addition the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs develop effective solutions and ramp up on unfamiliar codebases without hesitation. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How youll make an impact:
- Listen and contribute to design discussions and make detailed notes and documenting requirements and technical design.
- Provide guidance to more junior team members sharing knowledge across the teams.
- Write scalable high quality and secure software in a variety of programming languages and environments such as C# JavaScript SQL.
- Perform quality assurance by doing peer review ensuring coding standards are followed looking for logic errors and other bugs.
- Analyze call stacks trace files performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.
- Participate in development of prototypes minimum viable products and proofs of concept.
- Provide assistance to our support staff and resellers from a technical perspective. This may be in the form of on-call or ad-hoc questions relating to how certain features work or verifying the behaviour by reviewing code.
- Research new language features frameworks and other relevant technologies and offer recommendations to Leads and senior leaders.
- Assist in defining best practices to be used in the team.
- Provide design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse.
- Ensure the functionality performance scalability reliability realistic implementation schedules and system architecture for each assignment.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule (if applicable).
What youll bring to this role:
- 5 - 8 years of experience as a Software Developer using object-oriented programming to build scalable applications (C# and full-stack background preferred).
- Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field.
- Must-have proficiency in C# / .NET TypeScript/JavaScript PostgreSQL Docker and Git.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code Gemini Codex) and an interest in AI Fluency.
- Strong project management skills; able to identify needs develop effective solutions and manage projects through to completion.
- Experience with SQL Server and Postgres database design optimization and writing queries.
- Ability to work in a distributed remote environment preferably in Pacific or Mountain Time zones and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

The annual base salary for this position is the expected annual salary for this role and may be subject to change. Geotab offers various perks and benefits and other compensation components that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills qualifications education and overall experience including the location the applicant lives while performing the job. This also includes equity with other team members and alignment with local market data. All offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work and the individuals ability to pass a background check.
Hiring Range
$104400 - $135700 CAD
