JOB GOAL
To develop implement and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned to the American School Counselor Association that addresses the academic social/emotional and behavioral needs of all students with an emphasis on supporting students who are struggling academically. The program will include targeted data-driven interventions designed to close achievement gaps and promote student success.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary based on a (200-day) contract plus benefits package. Placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and district salary guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in School Counseling
Valid Arkansas School Counselor certification (K12)
Demonstrated experience supporting students struggling academically
Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to equitable and inclusive educational practices
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent/Board
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership & TESS Domain 1 (Planning & Preparation)
Develop implement and evaluate a building-level counseling program based on student data and identified needs
Use academic behavior and attendance data to design interventions and monitor student progress
Implement research-based strategies to close achievement gaps
Assist in developing and monitoring interim assessments aligned to state standards
Student Support Services (TESS Domains 2 & 3)
Provide individual and small group counseling focused on academic and social/emotional growth
Deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned to ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors
Help students develop self-awareness self-management and goal-setting skills
Support a safe structured and student-centered learning environment
Responsive Services & Intervention
Provide timely response to student crises and behavioral concerns
Assist in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans
Support students in maximizing their potential academically and socially
Collaboration & Communication (TESS Domain 4)
Collaborate with administration teachers and staff to support the schools mission and vision
Work with parents and guardians to address student needs and promote success
Participate in RTI/MTSS behavioral intervention team meetings and possibly some IEP/504 meetings
Promote effective use of school and community resources
Program Advocacy & School Improvement
Communicate the goals and impact of the counseling program to stakeholders
Support curriculum development and school improvement initiatives
Assist in securing materials and resources including technology to support struggling students
Professional Responsibilities (TESS Domain 4)
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ASCA Ethical Standards
Engage in ongoing professional learning to improve practice
Attend required meetings and serve on committees
Demonstrate professionalism strong work ethic and openness to innovation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Must maintain regular attendance and be present during contracted time
