Nature of Work:
SEWER EVALUATION AND MAINTENANCE (SEM) RECLAIM:Performs specialized technical field and office work involving research cross connection inspection and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with Reclaimed Specifications. Work is performed under general supervision and employees are expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment in interpretation of applicable codes and FDEP (Florida Department of Environmental Protection) regulations. Performance is reviewed through conferences reports and results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a GOAA Secure Area AccessI.D. badge within ninety (90) days of hire. Individuals must complete a background check to obtain the I.D. badge. A list of the infractions which will impact your eligibility are listed at the bottom of this job posting.
Environmental Specialist I - SEWER EVALUATION AND MAINTENANCE (SEM) RECLAIM -Associates Degree with major coursework in Chemistry Biology Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or related field and one (1) year of public utilities experience preferably in a potable or reclaimed water distribution environment;or an equivalent combination of training or experience. Must obtain Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association Reclaimed Water Site Inspector Certificate within one (1) year of employment. Selected candidates will be invited to complete a Microsoft Word and Excel Exam.A GOAA Secure Area Access I.D. badge is required within ninety (90) days of hire.Valid Florida Drivers License required.

SEWER EVALUATION AND MAINTENANCE (SEM) RECLAIM - Additional Qualifications for Promotion:
Promotion to Environmental Specialist II requires possession of Florida Water Distribution System Operator Level II and Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association Reclaimed Water Site Inspector Certificate.
GOAA Criminal History Record Check and Security Threat Assessments Disqualifying Crimes:If you have ever pleaded guilty or nolo-contendere (no contest) to had an adjudication withheld been convicted or found not guilty by reason of insanity to any of the following under Title 49 CFR 1542.209 and 1544.229
Violence at international airports
Felony involving willful destruction of property
Felony involving a threat
Felony involving importation or manufacture of a controlled substance
Felony involving burglary
Felony involving theft
Felony involving dishonesty fraud or misrepresentation
Felony involving possession or distribution of stolen property
Felony involving aggravated assault
Felony involving bribery
Felony involving illegal possession of a controlled substance punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of more than 1 year.
Forgery of certificates false making of aircraft and other aircraft registration violations
Interference with air navigation

Commission of certain crimes aboard an aircraft in flight

Unlawful entry into an aircraft or airport area that serves air carriers or foreign air carriers contrary to established security requirements
Destruction of an aircraft or aircraft facility

Kidnapping or hostage taking
Treason
Rape or aggravated sexual abuse
Unlawful possession use sale distribution or manufacture of an explosive or weapon

Armed or felony unarmed robbery

Conspiracy or attempt to commit any of the aforementioned criminal acts.
