HOURLY SALARY RANGE:Minimum $12.90 Midpoint $16.12 Maximum $19.34
Primary Purpose:
Provide childcare services as stated by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to enable teen parents to pursue and earn a high school diploma or GED.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to work well with infants and young children
Ability to work well with teenage parents and adults
Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Minimum Experience:
One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Child Care
Supervise infants and children at all times.
Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
Demonstrate physical emotional and intellectual competencies necessary for self-control and good judgment when performing assigned responsibilities.
Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children their families and their cultures.
Interact with children showing affection interest respect and fostering developmentally appropriate independence.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in professional learning staff meetings and special events as assigned.
Maintain familiarity with the districts curriculum to better serve the needs of children and parents.
Communication
Articulate the districts mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.
Motion: Frequent walking; frequent repetitive hand motions wrist flexion/extension
Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance 30-55 pounds with assistance and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
Environment: Work in child care setting; occasional exposure to contagious diseases
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruption
