    Position Summary:

    The Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive research-based performance program for all school-sponsored athletic programs. The program is designed to improve athletic performance reduce injury risk and promote lifelong fitness and wellness.

    This role collaborates closely with the athletic director athletic trainer coaches and school leadership to ensure alignment across all athletic programs while fostering a positive inclusive and mission-aligned training environment that supports the formation of the whole student.

    This is a full-time 12 months per year position reporting to the Athletic Director

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Design & Implementation

    • Design and implement year-round strength and conditioning programs (in-season and off-season after and before school and during summer) for all school-sponsored athletic programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices
    • Develop sport-specific training plans in conjunction with the coach and their athletes.
    • Incorporate principles of strength speed agility mobility flexibility and injury prevention into all programming.
    • Provide direct coaching with an emphasis on proper technique progression and safety.
    • Provide access and structured programming for non-athlete students during open gym or general fitness periods.
    • Teach up to 3 sections of strength and conditioning each semester including possibly a zero period.

    Athlete Development & Performance Monitoring

    • Establish systems to track athlete performance attendance and progress over time.
    • Conduct needs analyses for teams and individual athletes to inform training plans.
    • Use data to adjust programming and communicate progress with coaches and athletic leadership.
    • Evaluate athletes and provide ongoing feedback to support growth and goal-setting.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work collaboratively with sport coaches to align training with team goals and seasonal demands.
    • Work collaboratively with PE teachers on strength training and life fitness courses.
    • Partner with athletic trainer to support injury prevention and rehabilitation programming.
    • Communicate regularly with students coaches and families regarding expectations and progress.
    • Support broader athletic department initiatives and operations as needed.

    Education & Student Experience

    • Educate student-athletes on strength training recovery sleep hydration and nutrition fundamentals.
    • Promote lifelong wellness habits and a growth mindset.
    • Foster a positive inclusive and disciplined training environment aligned with school values.

    Facility & Program Management

    • Oversee daily operations of the weight room and training facilities.
    • Ensure safe use maintenance and organization of equipment.
    • Develop and enforce policies and procedures aligned with professional standards.
    • Manage scheduling to ensure equitable access for all teams.
    • Assist with budgeting equipment purchasing and long-term program planning.

    Culture & Leadership

    • Model integrity accountability and servant leadership in all interactions.
    • Contribute to a culture of respect discipline and high expectations.
    • Support the formation of student-athletes as competitors and people of character.
    • Be a visible approachable presence within the school community.
    • Support and complete other duties as assigned by the athletic director.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Exercise Science Kinesiology or related field or relevant professional experience sufficient to perform essential job functions
    • Current professional certification such as NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent (or ability to obtain one)
    • Experience working with high school or collegiate athletes.
    • Strong knowledge of strength training techniques program design and injury prevention.
    • CPR First Aid and AED certification (or ability to obtain).
    • Excellent communication organizational and leadership skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students coaches and staff.
    • Ability to safely demonstrate spot and assist student-athletes during strength training activities including lifting and stabilizing weights (typically up to 75ï½100 pounds) to ensure proper technique and injury prevention.
