Under the direction of assigned City staff oversees and facilitates the Youth City Council (YCC) program. Provides mentorship and guidance to youth participants while coordinating meetings service projects and civic engagement activities. Promotes leadership development and an understanding of local government.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans and facilitates monthly Youth City Council meetings (first Thursday at 6:00 p.m.)
Mentors youth members in leadership teamwork and civic responsibility
Assists youth officers in developing program goals priorities and annual work plans
Coordinates community service projects and program activities
Serves as liaison between youth members City staff elected officials and community partners
Assists with recruitment selection and onboarding of participants
Maintains records including agendas attendance and program documentation
Ensure a safe inclusive and respectful environment
Provides education on municipal government and civic processes
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates Youth City Council participation in community events and activities including but not limited to:
Kaysville Gives (December)
Easter Egg Hunt at Barnes Park
Kaysville 4th of July Parade
Local Officials Day at the Capitol (January)
USU Scarecrow Walk
Fable Forest Event
Additional service projects leadership activities and community events as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with youth or youth programs
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to mentor and lead groups
Interest in civic engagement public service or community development
WORK SCHEDULE
Monthly meetings (first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.)
Additional evening and weekend hours for events and activities
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
Must comply with all City volunteer policies and requirements
