Job Summary

Position Summary

This is work of training nature developing knowledge and skills in orphans court administration specifically with regard to investigation work.  Employees participate as learners in phases of court activities assigned on the basis of interest and aptitude.  As experience is gained and the full performance level neared a progressively expanding range and complexity of projects are assigned.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  In order to meet the needs of those served by the Orphans Court employees may be assigned other duties in addition to or in lieu of those described herein and any duties are subject to change at any time.

  • Attends virtual court proceedings including Zoom hearings to inform potential guardians of the rights duties and responsibilities of court-appointed guardians and to respond to general questions as appropriate.
  • Performs a variety of office tasks in the assigned phase of activity such as gathering data by inquiry observation and examination of court records financial records and in-person meetings
  • Make recommendations on actions and preparing reports and other materials.
  • Work closely with unit manager to develop knowledge skills and abilities in a technical field
  • Conduct inquiries of incapacitated persons contact agency which provide residential care to incapacitated persons
  • Contact with the public via phone or in-person significant and frequent

 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs related work as assigned and required by Orphans Division.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Standard office conditions.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of English usage grammar and composition.
  • Ability to learn principles and practices within the assigned technical or administrative field.
  • Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to present ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn the legal system particularly state and local statutory requirements regarding guardianships of incapacitated persons and minors.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret statutes local rules and governmental regulations as they relate to incapacitated persons.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel sufficient to prepare reports correspondence and basic data tracking documents.
  • Prior banking experience or experience reviewing financial records is desirable.
  • Prior experience in the medical field or familiarity with healthcare terminology and documentation is desirable.

 

 

 

 


Qualifications :

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

              OR

Five years of progressively responsible administrative work in court service.

              OR

Equivalent combinations of education training and experience providing the characteristics required to perform the essential functions of the class may substitute. 

  1. After meeting minimum standards successful completion of a panel review and/or interview process.
  2. Satisfactory clearance of a criminal background investigation.
  3. Ability to perform the essential functions of a position in this class.
  4. Must work in person (not remote).
