Elementary Reading Teacher
SPLIT LOCATION Position (Henry Barnard School & Edgar H. Parkman School)
Position Overview
The Enfield Public Schools seeks a highly qualified and student-centered Elementary Reading Teacher who is committed to the districts mission and to providing high-quality evidence-based literacy instruction. This position supports students through explicit systematic reading instruction aligned with the Connecticut Core Standards the Science of Reading and the districts Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver explicit systematic and evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading including phonological awareness phonics fluency vocabulary and comprehension
- Provide targeted small-group and/or individualized interventions within the MTSS framework
- Use universal screening diagnostic assessments and progress-monitoring data to inform instruction and adjust interventions
- Collaborate with classroom teachers special educators administrators and support staff to improve literacy outcomes
- Support classroom instruction through push-in and pull-out service models as appropriate
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) data team meetings and professional development
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress effectively with families
- Uphold district policies professional standards and CT State Department of Education requirements
Required Qualifications
- Connecticut certification in Reading (102) or Reading Specialist (097)
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based early literacy instruction and intervention
- Experience using student data to drive instructional decision-making
- Strong collaboration communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in Science of Reading structured literacy
- Experience working within an MTSS
- Experience supporting diverse learners including students with disabilities and English Learners
