Elementary Reading Teacher

SPLIT LOCATION Position (Henry Barnard School & Edgar H. Parkman School)

Position Overview

The Enfield Public Schools seeks a highly qualified and student-centered Elementary Reading Teacher who is committed to the districts mission and to providing high-quality evidence-based literacy instruction. This position supports students through explicit systematic reading instruction aligned with the Connecticut Core Standards the Science of Reading and the districts Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver explicit systematic and evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading including phonological awareness phonics fluency vocabulary and comprehension
• Provide targeted small-group and/or individualized interventions within the MTSS framework
• Use universal screening diagnostic assessments and progress-monitoring data to inform instruction and adjust interventions
• Collaborate with classroom teachers special educators administrators and support staff to improve literacy outcomes
• Support classroom instruction through push-in and pull-out service models as appropriate
• Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) data team meetings and professional development
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress effectively with families
• Uphold district policies professional standards and CT State Department of Education requirements

Required Qualifications

• Connecticut certification in Reading (102) or Reading Specialist (097)
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based early literacy instruction and intervention
• Experience using student data to drive instructional decision-making
• Strong collaboration communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Training in Science of Reading structured literacy
• Experience working within an MTSS
• Experience supporting diverse learners including students with disabilities and English Learners

Compensation

Salary and benefits accordance with the Enfield Education Association collective bargaining agreement.
