The Department of Business Ethics and Legal Studies at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for two Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors for the 2026-2027 academic year focused on business law business ethics and/or sustainable business.

The Daniels College of Business (DCB) offers a variety of baccalaureate graduate PhD and certificate programs which are detailed at Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors will join the Department of Business Ethics and Legal Studies (BELS) for the 2026-2027 academic year. The BELS Department is an interdisciplinary academic unit in the Daniels College of Business dedicated to research teaching thought leadership and community engagement in the areas of business ethics business law sustainable business non-market risk and public policy. Faculty in the BELS Department conduct research and teach courses in the Colleges undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and its MBA programs the Departments undergraduate Business Ethics and Legal Studies minor and in the joint graduate certificate in Global Business & Corporate Social Responsibility between the Daniels College of Business and Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs. The Department strongly supports Daniels mission to benefit the public good by developing future business leaders through impactful scholarship challenge-driven education and lifelong learning. BELS faculty support the Universitys 4D initiatives and are a major driver of the societal impact pillar of the Colleges Elevate 2035 Strategic Plan through its co-curricular and external engagement activities including the quarterly Ethics Boot Camp and annual Sustainable Business Symposium.
Position Summary
Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors have primary responsibility for teaching and service including external engagement with industry and practitioners. Research is encouraged but not required. We are open to applicants with a variety of perspectives and teaching interests in the areas of business law business ethics and/or sustainable business.
Based on our teaching needs we have a strong desire for candidates with the following interests and expertise:
1. Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor focused on business law and related areas of business ethics. Primary courses to be taught will include our undergraduate courses in Foundations of Business Law and Ethics and/or our graduate-level Business Law and Public Policy courses in our daytime and nighttime MBA programs. Depending on their interest and experience the successful candidate may also be assigned to teach one or more of the following elective courses: White Collar & Corporate Crime Employment Law & Ethics Sports Law AI Ethics & Governance.
2. Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor focused on sustainable business and related areas of business ethics. Primary courses to be taught may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Creating Sustainable Enterprises Advanced Sustainability Climate Change & Corporate Risk Management and Business & Sustainability which include topics such as ESG regulation reporting and disclosures; carbon footprint accounting; circular economy; systems thinking; sustainable supply chains; and risk management. The successful candidate may also be offered the opportunity to lead our MBA Social Good Challenge which involves students working on impactful live client projects for nonprofit organizations governmental entities and/or corporate clients.
Each Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses during the academic year which may include fall winter and/or spring quarters. Teaching responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate level courses using traditional hybrid and/or online delivery methods. Teaching responsibilities may involve day night and weekend classes. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website. The Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors are expected to participate in the academic life of the Department and the Daniels College of Business.
Essential Functions
Teaching: Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors will be expected to teach eight courses throughout the academic year which may include fall winter and spring quarters. DU follows the quarter system with three 10-week long academic terms in Fall (early September-late November) Winter (early January-mid March) and Spring (Late March-early June).
Service: The Visiting Teaching Assistant Professors will be expected to participate in the academic life of the Department and College. This includes but it is not limited to attendance at faculty meetings and participation in assurance of learning and curriculum development. Significant involvement with undergraduate and graduate students is expected of all faculty members including but not limited to holding regular office hours and assisting students in our BELS minor program. Successful candidates will also be expected to engage with industry and community stakeholders to ensure that coursework remains market relevant and foster Daniels desire to create positive societal impact.

Required Qualifications
- For the Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor position focused on business law and related areas of business ethics a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
- For the Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor position focused on sustainable business and related areas of business ethics a Masters degree or equivalent in sustainability and/or ethics or a closely related field (including environmental science or planning CSR/ESG ethics or engineering) is required or relevant Bachelors degree plus 10 years or more of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated potential for strong performance in teaching and service as defined under Essential Functions.
- Strong desire to engage with students faculty staff and community stakeholders on matters related to areas of expertise.
- Strong English communication skills (written and oral).
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching interests in core areas of business law business ethics sustainable business and/or public policy in these areas.
- Particular interest in any of the following areas would also be welcomed: white collar and corporate crime; employment law; sustainable business areas including carbon footprint accounting; circular economy; ESG accounting and reporting; corporate social responsibility; the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence.
- Demonstrated professional experience in the practice of law ethics and compliance sustainable business and/or CSR/ESG in a law firm or corporate non-profit or governmental setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives.
- Demonstrated experience engaging inclusive populations and students with different learning styles.
- Experience teaching at an AACSB accredited institution with excellent teaching evaluations.
Working Environment

Work Schedule
While the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $75000 - $90000
