Job Summary
Demco is growing and is seeking an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineers for our semi-trailer manufacturing facility. Demco provides a competitive compensation & benefits package that takes into account your skills and expertise. This position will work out of our Spencer IA facility.
Work Schedule is Monday - Thursday 6am/4:30pm and a half day Friday rotation
Primary Duties:
- Design and improve processes of the manufacturing systems with a strong emphasis on quality productivity and operating costs by implementing lean concepts and sustaining ISO
- Manage projects to reduce non-value added activities
- Research and implement new tools and technology including assisting with the quoting and purchasing process
- Analyze manufacturing processes and methods including flow layout and production equipment
- Design and create minor jigs and fixtures
- Administer and process time studies and line balancing
- Develop work instructions and provide training to production personnel
- Implement continuous improvement/Lean principles
- Assist with design for manufacturability for new products using the 7 stages of design process
- Collaborate closely with the maintenance group to effectuate equipment upgrades and improvements
- Confer with management engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes
- Prepare charts for representation of statistical data
- Work with and support ISO 9001 work instructions and procedures
- Maintain accurate records and files
Qualifications/Experience:
- Equivalent to a two or four year degree preferred with major course work in an engineering curriculum or a related area of study with at least 2 years of on the job experience; or 3-5 years of on the job experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Experience with fixtures and robotic welding or fabrication including press brake a plus but not required
- Project management skills - ability to organize and manage multiple projects through manufacturing process
- Must be able to effectively present information to clients customers and employees
- Excellent computer knowledge and skills with drafting programs
- Excellent communication skills required
- Must be detail oriented and possess a willingness to accept challenges and strive for continual improvement in all areas
- Must be safety minded and practice shop safety
- Must be self motivated to work independently
