Job Description MES Consultant
Job Title: MES Consultant
Department: Digital Technology / ERP CoE /
Reports to: MFG/EWM Associate Director (according to local organizational structure)
Location: Prague
Role Purpose
MES Consultant is responsible for the design implementation and support of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) across manufacturing sites ensuring stable standardized and compliant execution of shopfloor processes aligned with global manufacturing quality and IT standards.
The role acts as a bridge between Manufacturing Quality Supply Chain and IT translating business and operational requirements into effective MES solutions that support production execution traceability data integrity and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
MES Solution Design & Configuration
Design configure and maintain MES solutions supporting core manufacturing processes (e.g. production execution data collection genealogy and traceability).
Translate business and shopfloor requirements into MES functional specifications.
Ensure alignment with global MES templates standards and architecture.
Support integration between MES and ERP systems (e.g. SAP-S4) and shopfloor equipment.
Manufacturing Process Support
Support production processes including work order execution confirmations material consumption and quality data capture.
Ensure MES supports standardized manufacturing and quality processes across plants.
Analyze production issues and propose MES-based improvements.
System Lifecycle & Operations
Support end-to-end MES application lifecycle: design build test deploy and support.
Manage configuration changes enhancements and defect resolution.
Support cutover testing (SIT/UAT) and go-live activities.
Provide 2nd/3rd level support for MES-related incidents and service requests.
Data Integrity & Compliance
Ensure accuracy consistency and traceability of manufacturing data.
Support compliance with internal controls quality standards and audit requirements.
Ensure proper documentation of MES configurations interfaces and processes.
Project & Change Support
Assess MES impacts of new manufacturing processes products or site rollouts.
Support MES deployments upgrades and template rollouts across factories.
Cooperate closely with Manufacturing Quality Automation SAP and IT teams.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and standardization efforts.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) in a production environment.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and shopfloor operations.
Experience with MESERP integration (SAP knowledge is a strong advantage).
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot MES-related issues.
Process & Manufacturing Knowledge
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production execution.
Knowledge of quality traceability and shopfloor data collection principles.
Experience in regulated or quality-driven manufacturing environments is an advantage.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
High attention to detail and structured approach to work.
Ability to work in a complex global and matrix organization.
Education
Bachelors degree in Engineering IT Computer Science or equivalent experience.
