ABOUT THE JOB
Summary
TheProject Finance Analystis responsible forthecreation and management ofaccuratetimelyreports and analysis to support program managers in achieving positionworksin a collaborative impact-oriented environment with the Finance Teamand colleagues across the Ecology Action Finance Analystcollaborateswith project teams tosupport budgetdevelopmentandcompletereports.
Theyperform month-end accountingmaintainup-to-date projecttrackerslead regular meetingsandsupportsenior staff in financial planningforeach project area. This positionsupportsall financial components ofgrant applications and reporting for the Ecology Action link between program managers and operationstheProject Finance Analystis akey contributor to strategic decision-makingand tosystem improvements and efficienciesfor the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Providesbudget developmentsupportforecastingandreportingto EACs programleadmanagers and directors; providestimelyfeedbackthatenablesproject managers to make financial decisions related to funding and staffing
Analyzeslarge volumes of data developsandmaintainsfinancialreporting toolsforaccurateandtimelyproject budget tracking
Completes month-end accounting related to project admin and deferred revenue reviewsallocationsand updates project trackers
Actsas liaison betweenfinanceand projects staff; leadsregularmeetings with eachof EACs 8-10Action teamsensures regular contact with EAC budget holderscommunicates clear actionable financial insight to finance team and program managers
Collaborates with program staff to support EACs grant application processesincluding
Sound budget proposals and projectfunding summaries
Timely andaccuratepipeline and agreement trackingand compliance
Accurate financialsections of grant reports that meet funding requirements and are impactfultoreinforce relationships withfunders
Managing and tracking contracts grant agreements and reportingincluding template provision and records management
Support for procurement advisingguidingandparticipatingin financial aspects of contracts and calls for tender and tracking contract agreements
Providesonboarding andtraining to employees onFinancerequirements
Keepstrack of system issues andanticipatefuture needs/problems
Protects EACs assets by keeping information confidential
Providesadditionalsupport to Finance Manager and Accounting Clerkincluding backup for financial processes such as payrollaccounts payablemonth quarter and yearend activitiesbimonthly cash and cheque deposits and other finance related duties asrequired.

WHAT YOU BRING
At least3-4yearsof experienceinprojectand/orfinancialmanagementin a non-profit settingexperiencein bookkeeping and accounting.
Experience witha range ofnon-profit financial reporting requirementsincluding for a variety of types of funders
Familiarity with grant applications processes including grant reporting tracking etc.
A facility with numbersstrong organizationalskillsand exceptional attention to detail
Ability to accurately manipulatelarge amountsof dataandto synthesize key messages
Highly skilled with Excel andMS Officewith strong technological literacyhaveacuriosityfortechnicalapplicationsandan ability to learn new tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsincluding relationship buildingexpertiseand an ability to explain complex financial matters in simple terms
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proven aptitude forutilizingand improving systems and processes and an ability tosimplifywhere appropriate
Theseadditionalskills areas of knowledge and experiences are an asset:
Professionalexperience inbookkeepingaccountingfinance financial analysis or other related fields and/or post-secondary certificate/degree in a businessmanagementor finance field
Knowledge of project management methods
Experience in working with and presenting to leadership teams
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time; 4-day 30hrwork week Monday - Thursday with some flexibility in the workday.Find out more about our 4-day work week here
Remuneration:$53000- $57000annual salarycommensuratewith experience
Indefinite contract
4 weeks pro-rated 10 paid health days and 12 paid Holidays cost-shared benefits plan after 3 months
Hybridwork environment with the expectation to be in our office in Halifaxs North End at least 2 days per week.
