Job Summary

  • Summary of Duties:

    The Physiotherapist (in collaboration with the interprofessional team) is responsible for providing person centred patient assessments and interventions including recommendations for follow-up and discharge planning as requiredon the Oncology Patient Services Units i.e. Home Care Program community or rehabilitation resources. This position will provide coverage to both the surgical and medical oncology units.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Active participation in inter-professional team activities such as team meetings clinical rounds and huddles.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives evaluative processes that include the use of standardized and valid outcome measures report writing and research activities.
    • Participate in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that foster ongoing learning professionalism interprofessional collaborations and best practices in physiotherapy for acute care patients.
    • Participation in clinical education and supervision of physical therapy students on an ongoing basis.
    • Be a resource for the education of interprofessional students.
    • Be an expert resource for: staff students and other health care providers related to physiotherapy.
    • Participate in appropriate committees and in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy Services.
    • Practice in accordance with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario standards of practice.

    Qualifications/Skills:

    • Must possess MScPT or equivalent with Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario in good standing
    • Rostered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for Tracheal Suctioning and Administering a Substance by Inhalation (expected)
    • One to two years of acute care physiotherapy experience preferred
    • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Well-developed time management prioritization and organizational skills
    • Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
